EMZ GTimer helps parents limit game time on their children's Windows PCs. You set it up and change it from the parent web app at gtimer.emzlabs.com or the parent app on your phone.

Getting started

  1. Install GTimer on your child's PC (Windows 10 or 11; administrator permission is needed). During the free beta, email us for the installer. Your child should use a standard (not administrator) Windows account - GTimer's window shows on that account.
  2. Sign in to the parent app on your phone with your Google account. Don't sign in on your child's PC.
  3. Tap + Add child PC and give the PC a name. A 6-digit code appears (a new one comes every 3 minutes while it's on screen).
  4. Enter the code in the GTimer window on the PC. The card turns live, and you can set time limits, give extra time and see what's running.

Common questions

I changed the time, but the PC still shows the old one.

The PC is probably off or offline (its name isn't green). The change waits on our server and reaches the PC the moment it's back online.

Which apps count as game time?

Games GTimer finds on the PC, games on our list, and apps you add under Monitored Apps. Web games in the browser count too while Web Game Detection is on (in the PC's Settings in the app). A game counts while its window is on screen - minimized windows don't. Everything else can have its own limit on the Others tab.

The time's-up alerts don't show over a fullscreen game.

On PCs with NVIDIA graphics, GTimer turns on an NVIDIA setting when it's installed so alerts can show over fullscreen games ("Show Alert in Fullscreen" in the PC app's Alerts). If a game was running at the time, restart it.

I don't get notifications on my iPhone from the web app.

On an iPhone, notifications from the web app work only after it's added to the Home Screen (Safari's Share button > Add to Home Screen, iOS 16.4 or later). Open it from there, then turn them on in Settings > Alerts.

How many PCs can I add?

Up to 4 PCs per family. Every parent device signed in to the same account sees the same PCs.

How do I remove GTimer from a PC?

On the PC: Windows Settings > Apps > EMZ GTimer > Uninstall (administrator permission is needed). The card then says GTimer was uninstalled; tap Remove from list.

Deleting your account

In the web app or a parent app: Settings > Delete Account, then sign in again to confirm. Your account and your family's data (PCs, settings, Activity, usage, problem reports) are deleted, and your PCs stop limiting time right away. GTimer stays installed on them until you uninstall it. You can also ask us by email. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
